According to Welcome Experiences, 91 students registered for Welcome Weekend this year, which began on Jan. 17. Of these 91 new students, 54 are from Texas, 26 are out of state, and 11 are international students.
Baylor University’s Black Gospel Archive and Listening Center has received a $2.5 million grant, paving the way for significant expansion of its collections and programming, including hosting concerts and community events.
“As a Christian business school, we emphasize servant leadership a lot,” Mazumder said. “It’s about making sure we’re serving people and making the right decisions that are ethical.”
The question many Californians now have is how the state will rebuild and adapt for the next wildfire season. As of late, the wildfires have not been obeying the typical laws of nature. Plans to build on the riverside area known as the Brazos Commons next to McLane Stadium will commence on March 16 when the city releases a call for proposals to possible investors. Following news of the plans to erect McLane Stadium, the area surrounding the land plot was deemed equally valuable by prospective investors. In 2013, two investors shared their intention of building a multimillion-dollar retail and hotel center along the Brazos River.

Texas voters turned out in historic numbers Tuesday, delivering victories for State Rep. James Talarico and forcing a runoff between Attorney General Ken Paxton and incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s U.S. Senate contest that claimed national attention. The total early-voting turnout of more than 2.5 million marks the highest ever for a midterm primary election. The results also kicked off the 2026 midterm cycle.

The Iran war is now in its 46th day. Iran responded by restricting access to Hormuz, which carries about a fifth of the world’s seaborne oil, and moving to toll vessels transiting the strait. Waco drivers are already feeling it. The local average hit $3.38 a gallon last week, up 21 cents in seven days and 75 cents year-over-year, according to AAA data.
Gas prices in Texas have surged more than 70 cents per gallon since the U.S. went to war with Iran three weeks ago.
