Cowan’s deep dive into the chastity-crazed, right-wing militant leaders of Brazil came from the desire to learn how two teenage students kissing on a bus could be seen as the essence of communism — something a Brazilian official actually said after being on that bus, according to Cowan. Analyzing the origin and effect of this reasoning is the larger point of the “Mobilizing Morality” series.
Last week, Baylor’s International Student and Scholar Services sent an email travel advisory to all international students across campus, expressing concern for students going back home this summer due to possible complications in returning to the U.S. come August.
“They are constantly in this cycle of violence,” Seabolt said. “Our job is trying to make them understand, trying to educate them and trying to help them break that cycle.”

Tensions continued to grow over the summer between political adversaries as Texas state Sen. James Talarico called on Attorney General Ken Paxton to release internal records related to a controversial child sexual abuse case involving former Waco attorney and Baylor Law graduate Adam Hoffman.
