From the classrooms of Baylor to the stage of “American Idol,” Houston sophomore Colby Cobb has transformed his life by releasing songs and showcasing his talent at gigs across the country.

In fall 2024, Dr. Sebastian Langdell and Dr. Ginger Hanchey — both medievalists, both Swifties — will teach “Lit (Taylor’s Version),” a course that promises to put the music of the generation’s biggest pop star into context with literary greats such as William Wordsworth, Virginia Woolf and Oscar Wilde.
While a space like this has previously existed, it is being “rebranded” and moved to a more central location: the first floor of Moody Memorial Library. One half of the space is a quiet area where people can engage in deep prayer and meditation, and the other is a more relaxed area for people to sit and engage in conversation.
Waco is home to a wide variety of gyms, from the on-campus McLane Student Life Center to facilities like Train Waco, Crunch Fitness and Gold’s Gym. Each one offers distinct experiences, but the pros and cons of each have kept students’ decisions on where to work out into an ongoing debate.
Moving into a tiny room with a stranger is intimidating. As a freshman, you not only have to deal with finding your classes and enduring the chaos of running the Baylor Line for the first time, but you are also expected to make lifelong friends. Rest assured, you don’t need to learn your roommate’s deepest secrets or memorize their family tree in one day — it’s much easier.
