When redshirt sophomore second baseman Travis Sanders dug into the batter’s box to lead off the ninth inning, he wasn’t going to be beaten. In a 1-2 count, Sanders drilled the first Baylor baseball walk-off home run since May 19, 2022, pulling the Bears past Houston Christian University, 3-2, Tuesday night at Baylor Ballpark.

Baylor football head coach Dave Aranda has always been a defensive guy, so allowing 30 or more points in seven games during a bounce-back bowl season left a sour taste. In February, the NCAA announced a change in participation for transgender student-athletes following the Trump Administration’s executive orders. This new policy allows only student-athletes assigned female at birth to compete in women’s sports, while the men’s category is open to both.
