No matter if you love or hate Sing, you can’t deny there’s something magical about hundreds of students coming together to create elaborate performances to entertain thousands. Sing isn’t just about performing, it’s about the experience of coming together as a community.
“Greek life is so different at Baylor compared to other schools — we have spring recruitment, no houses, heavy influence of religion and specifically, Baylor vernacular and fashion trends,” Olson said.
At Baylor, there are over 4,400 people in Greek Life stretched across 41 different chapters — around 30% of the total undergraduate population. In its long history, Baylor has created some beloved traditions for students past, present and future. Many of these traditions are reliant on the Greek organizations on campus and their hours of hard work.
I’m 20 years old. The government doesn’t allow someone my age to buy a bottle of wine from Target, but for some reason, I’m supposed to have the rest of my life wrapped up neatly in a 30-second elevator pitch.
It doesn’t matter how busy you think you are. There’s always an extra hour in your schedule to try that new club or to go on a coffee date with someone you haven’t talked to before. Even little connections make a world of difference.
It’s easy to fall into a bubble where one person’s life experience is the only life experience. Countries other than the United States have different environments and lifestyles, and learning about them is essential in order to move forward and progress in the world.
As someone who has only ever been to the United States, coming to a country like Ireland was very eye-opening. The rich history here is celebrated for both the good and the bad. The Irish welcome visitors, and with every person I’ve spoken to in all of the different cities, I can see the joy that their country and heritage brings them.
