On a day with less than stellar weather conditions, it was the Baylor defense that helped the Bears secure their 20th consecutive home win and keep the best winning streak in college football alive. Baylor defeated the Iowa State Cyclones 45-27, in its Homecoming game at McLane Stadium. The elements proved to be challenging for the Baylor offense to find a consistent rhythm. Despite scoring with relative ease early in the game, the Bears suffered their worst scoring drought of the season against the Cyclones. “You have to give Iowa State credit and we had a couple penalties [that hurt…

We’re getting to the point in the college football season that Heisman contenders are finding it difficult to move up in the rankings. After a week of botched punts and heartbreaking losses for teams that appeared to be on the rise, none of my Heisman standings changed. Every contender turned in a solid performance to retain their previous ranking. As conference play continues, I expect at least one player from the second tier to break through and challenge for the No. 1 spot. Here’s a look at my Week 7 rankings: 1. You might expect a program that had struggled to make a bowl game just five years ago to be thrilled about being bowl-eligible through six games in the 2015 season. However, for No. 2 ranked Baylor, qualifying to play a thirteenth game is just a part of the master plan. “We’ve achieved the first goal to become bowl-eligible, so the next goal is to win the Big 12, and after that it’s to win whatever bowl we get into and make it to the national championship. It’s just that first step of making history,” junior quarterback Seth Russell said. The…

As the old adage goes, “Hindsight is 20/20.” I’m certain no one would disagree with that statement. Through him, I’ve been able to chase my dreams and conquer my fears, but more importantly, I have an everlasting happiness that is based on my personal relationship with my Savior. The best advice I can offer is to continually seek and pursue a daily relationship with Jesus. As a senior, I…

Once again, we were blessed with an incredible weekend of college football. Trevone Boykin fended off an upset from Texas Tech (with a little luck) and kept TCU alive in the playoff hunt. We also saw a big upset that sent the Ducks out of the AP poll for the first time since 2009. I don’t think anyone expected Utah to beat Oregon in that particular fashion (62-20). My top three remain unchanged. However, the bye week for Oklahoma and the sub-par performance from Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly opened up spots for some outsiders. Here’s a look at the…
