Flashing lights, the smell of gasoline and burnt rubber, shards of glass scattered on the asphalt outside of the Exxon Mobil station near campus.

A Baylor student’s black Acura MDX and a truck collided at approximately 8 p.m. at the intersection of Fifth Street and J.H. Kultgen Freeway. Air bags were deployed and no major injuries were reported. The student driver was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. The driver of the truck was uninjured and remained at the scene. He did not wish to comment on the accident.

The front end of the student’s car sustained damages, smashing in on impact, against the jack-knifed truck and its trailer. The left side panel of the truck lay twisted on the ground. The student’s car was moved out of the intersection by Tow King of Waco and the truck was moved from the scene after the left trailer fender was straightened out by emergency personnel.

The intersection was blocked off to traffic for at least 45 minutes. No police officers were available at the time of the accident so the exact cause of the accident is currently unknown.
