Baylor leads Texas 24-21 at halftime.

Baylor looked to have control of this game, grabbing a 14-0 lead before the eight-minute mark in the first quarter. Junior quarterback Robert Griffin III found senior receiver Kendall Wright for a 59-yard touchdown pass on the second play of the game.

The Griffin to Wright connection led to a 48-yard strike on Baylor’s second offensive drive. Senior running back Terrance Ganaway would finish that drive with a 20-yard touchdown run.

Texas responded aggressively, though, scoring 21 unanswered points on the Bears. Longhorn quarterback Case McCoy has thrown for 232 yards and three touchdowns in the first half, including a big 80-yard touchdown pass to receiver Marquise Goodwin.

The Baylor defense has made some plays in the absence of the offense’s scoring in the second quarter. Senior defensive tackle Tracy Robertson recovered a McCoy fumble, and sophomore cornerback K.J. Morton intercepted a McCoy throw to set up a 2-yard touchdown run by Griffin.

Griffin’s first half has not had his usual impressive first half, throwing for only 161 yards and one touchdown with one interception.

Wright has taken the majority of the receptions, with five catches for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Ganaway has 70 rushing yards and one touchdown.
