As Baylor’s first concert of the fall approaches, seats are slowly but surely snatched up from the Foster Pavilion ticket map. But for some students, the price of tickets can be a deterrent.

Jason Cook, vice president of marketing and communications, said his team works to offer affordable ticket options to students.

“I think it needs to be part of the college experience to have, and to know that you’re going to have the highest production level that you’ll find anywhere,” Cook said. “And you’re going to have a great experience.”

According to the Baylor ticket website, tickets currently available range from $75.61 to $199.63 for Old Dominion, $75.61 to $148.18 for Mt. Joy and $50.29 to $77.81 for Braxton Keith.

According to Pollstar, which collects data on the global concert industry, the average price of a concert ticket was $132.62 in 2025. The lower end of Foster Pavilion’s fall ticket prices falls below this average.

Cook also said the value of a Baylor concert ticket goes beneath the surface.

“You’re not going to have to pay for a tank of gas to go hear somebody in Austin or Dallas,” Cook said. “You’re not going to have to pay another $40 or $50 to park in Austin or Dallas. You’re not going to get in at 1:30 or 2 in the morning as part of that. We have the same types of artists, the same experiences right here in Waco.”

However, Deer Park junior Jolie Bridy said she was surprised by the cost of Forrest Frank’s April 2025 concert tickets. According to a Lariat article, said tickets ranged from $74 to $121 as of the time the piece was written.

“When Forrest Frank came, his tickets cost like $80, which I wasn’t expecting, just because I was assuming it would be appealing to college students that aren’t making a lot of money because we’re in college,” Bridy said.

She was again discouraged from buying tickets for the Mt. Joy concert this fall because of similar ticket prices.

“I assumed these would also be $80, I was just really hoping they weren’t, and then they were,” Bridy said. “So I will not be attending because of these prices.”

For students looking for live music without a price tag, the Baylor Backyard Live Series and Howdy at the Hurd are free events.

“Howdy at the Hurd, it’s not just for freshmen,” Cook said, “It’s for all students. And since it’s on the weekend of the Big 12 opener against Colorado, we’re really opening the door for all football fans to come to Howdy at the Hurd as well to see an A-list entertainer in Carter Faith. And then have Pat Green the next day. So it’s just going to be a great weekend of music and football for that one.”
