If you need a ride back to your car or dorm, the Baylor University Police Department is available 24/7 to pick you up.

The escort service covers the 1,000-acre campus and an extra patrol response area that reaches all the way to 17th Street between I-35 and La Salle Ave.

“It’s a great way for the police officers or security officers who are doing these escorts to make contact with the community and get to know each other,” said Brad Wigtil, Baylor Chief of Police.

Wigtil said the average response time for the service is three minutes.

“February, we did 360 escorts,” Wigtil said. “Now, there might be more than one person on an escort, so that averages to 12 to 13 a day.”

You can request an escort by calling (254) 710-2211.
