Two aggravated robberies were reported at Waco convenience stores at the end of last week and the suspects of both incidents share a matching description.

The first aggravated robbery took place at the 7-Eleven at 701 S. University Parks Dr. around 2:15 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, according to a Waco Police Department Facebook post. The second robbery took place a day after at the Dollar General at 205 East Waco Dr. around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17.

According to Waco PD, the suspect from Friday’s incident at 7-Eleven approached the counter and ordered the clerk to give him cash from the register. The suspect did not display a gun, but he kept grabbing at his waist as if he had one. After receiving the cash, the suspect ordered the clerk to give him a pack of cigarettes. He then fled on foot, heading south behind the store.

The suspect from Saturday’s reportedly robbery walked behind the counter and grabbed a female clerk by the hair, placing what the clerk believed to be a gun to her back, according to Waco PD. Similar to Friday’s incident, the suspect demanded money from the register, took the cash then fled the store on foot, heading south.

No injuries were reported and no arrests took place regarding both robberies, Waco PD said.

The suspects of the two robberies were both described by Waco PD as a black male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches and 225 pounds.

While the suspects of both robberies share matching descriptions, Waco PD said that “it is unknown if in fact this is the same suspect.”

According to Sgt. Patrick Swanton of Waco PD, it is still too early to tell whether or not the suspects from the two robberies are the same person.

The Waco PD Facebook post about Friday’s incident gives a more detailed description of the suspect from the 7-Eleven robbery. The post said the suspect was wearing “black pants with a white stripe down the leg, a white button down shirt, black or gray shoes and a blue ski mask.”

A third convenience store robbery also took place at the Valero gas station located at 4025 Bosque Blvd. on Tuesday around 2:30 a.m., according to a Waco PD Facebook post.

Two black males, approximately 6 feet and 160 pounds according to Waco PD, entered the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint for cash. One was wearing a red long-sleeve shirt, red shorts, gloves and a black t-shirt wrapped around his head and the other suspect was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, black shorts and a red shirt wrapped around his head.

Both suspects fled the store on foot, heading east, Waco PD said. No arrests have been made and there were no reports of injuries.

“It is unknown if this robbery is related to others we have had in the past several weeks,” Waco PD said.

Swanton said that Waco PD has seen an influx of robberies in the past weeks.
