A country music legend will perform 9 p.m. on Saturday at Whiskey River.

Johnny Lee, a Texas Country Music Hall of Fame artist with chart toppers from the late 1970s, will headline the event. Some of his top singles include “Lookin’ For Love,” “One In A Million” and “Bet Your Heart On Me.”

Sam Badar, owner of Whiskey River on Bosque Drive, said he looks forward to having Lee on the Whiskey River stage.

“Johnny Lee is a true legend,” Badar said. “He has a very strong following in Waco. We got lucky that we’re getting him this Saturday.”

Local country artist Allen Brown, who has opened for artists like Stoney Larue and Wade Bowen, will start the show.

Door open at 7 p.m. and tickets, priced at $20, can be purchased at Whiskey River or over the phone at 254-772-6811. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Badar also said he hopes that Whiskey River will draw Baylor students with live-music Saturdays and Thursday nights called “Baylor Nights”. On Thursdays, any Baylor student 18 and up with a state and Baylor ID can get in free.

“Kids nowadays need the music,” Badar said. “We want to be the ones that care to make their lives easier.”

Casey Donahew Band and Chris Low will perform at Whiskey River on March 9.  Tickets for that event will be available for sale at Cavender’s.
