    April 18, 2012

    Baylor Student Body,

As the current and two-term Student Body Internal Vice President and President of Student Senate, I am offering my endorsement of Nick Pokorny as Student Body President. Experience is a necessary attribute to being SBP and a key characteristic of Nick’s. Nick, having been a student senator in the campus improvements committee, Baylor ambassador, chairman and member of the University Sustainability Student Advisory Board, University Judicial Affairs student representative, LEAD LLC program member, among others, has had exposure to key aspects of campus life affecting students. Through this exposure he has built relationships with students, faculty, and administrators that will directly benefit the student body in the months and years to come.

Having worked with and advised the past two SBPs myself, I have a clear understanding of what the job SBP takes. Nick’s dedication and service to the student body as an active and reputable senator during the past two legislative sessions has equipped him with the rapport and skills necessary to lead our Student Government, as well as the Student Body. He is a man of the people and he advocates for the students he represents. He knows that affordability, parking, the Baylor brand and reputation, and accessibility to your elected leaders are issues at the heart of the students today and he is not afraid to listen to you and take your concerns to the people at the decision making level, mindful of the two-way street of respect and courtesy when dealing with administrators.

Though it is not easy to predict what the future holds, I am comfortable knowing that Nick Pokorny will be opening doors for our future as Student Body President. Be informed and responsible and cast your vote in the Student Body Elections, open today until Thursday at 5PM. Elect Nick Pokorny for SBP!

    Sic ‘em Bears,

    Michael Lyssy

    Student Body Internal Vice President

    2010-2012
