Waco police seek phone line jammer

By The Associated Press

WACO — Harassing phone calls to a Central Texas police department have been blamed on an unknown person whose stunt tied up administrative lines but not 911 emergency service.

Waco police on Wednesday said the caller is sought.

The department is receiving non-emergency calls, but says callers could face delays in reaching administrative phone lines. Those administrative lines received numerous calls Tuesday afternoon from an unknown source.

Police believe the calls were made by one person using multiple phone lines.

Sgt. Patrick Swanton says technicians have developed a temporary solution to deal with such calls. Details were not released.
