Some of the best discussions I have are with people I love the most. So don’t cross someone out of your life or disregard the opposition just for the sole fact that they disagree with you. Listen, learn and fire back properly. Do better.

It’s natural to be stubborn when you’ve had an opinion for a long time. That being said, I implore nonreligious students to at least try a more in-depth religious course. You could truly learn new things and see the world from a different point of view.
“Umm … I don’t think so,” I said hesitantly and ignorantly when my English professor asked me if I was a feminist during my freshman year of college. While feminism simply means equality of the sexes, and that means equality for all races of women, why do so many flee from being labeled feminist?
The concept of ownership is something we learn fairly early on in life. It is not uncommon to hear a toddler utter the word “mine” to another kid as they wrestle over a toy. Even men we revere in history for conquering foreign lands have put down their country’s flag as a way of claiming ownership. However, these kinds of actions pose a greater question: What does it really mean to own something?
My favorite part of going to the baseball park when I was younger was the Icee machine. My parents were always distracted and usually wouldn’t realize that I’d use the whole $5 they gave me on Icees.

Penland Crossroads is wonderful. It feels too big though. What’s the other side of the room, opposite to the dessert station even being used for? Some people tell me the bathrooms are over there, but I don’t really know because I’ve never had time to check. Why would I go to where the dessert station is not?
It’s a classic job interview cop-out. When asked, “What’s your biggest weakness?” simply answer, “Oh, I’m too much of a perfectionist.” Why? Because the word perfectionist kindles positive thoughts of how hard-working and detail-oriented a person is.
The colors red, white and blue mean a lot to me, especially when someone in camouflage salutes before them. The…
I am a firm believer that education happens just as much outside of the classroom as it happens within a classroom.
In college, the average student spends probably three to four hours in class a day. That leaves 20 hours a day where we’re left to our own devices.
Of course we have to eat, sleep and study, but those 20 or so hours also include the amount of time we spend on extracurriculars.
