Since mankind has been able to fly, companies have been looking at ways to capitalize on it. Howard Hughes had his Spruce Goose, Jeff Bezos has Blue Origin and Elon Musk has SpaceX. The United States is embarking on a unique era of space travel. We aren’t competing with the USSR to put a man on the moon anymore; the entire paradigm has shifted to looking for the most affordable and accessible ways to get people into space.
The club has close to 50 members, with majors ranging from engineering to astrophysics. Parker, Colo., senior and president of Aero at Baylor Jonathan Gildehaus said the club’s main focus is preparing students for their future careers through projects and other professional development opportunities.
While it is important to recognize the significance of an all-female crew, Perry should not be getting more attention than the women who have dreamed their whole life of going to space and worked to do so.

In collaboration with teams at NASA, Purdue University, the University of New Hampshire and Astroport, three Baylor professors are working to make space travel more affordable.
This semester, Baylor’s department of physics welcomed Dr. Benjamin Rose as an assistant professor of physics and project leader for NASA’s infrastructure research for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. The project requires $11 million in funding and began its next stage in October.
Dr. Barbara Castanheira Endl, an assistant professor of physics, is preparing to publish the results of her research on white dwarf stars. Her focus was to understand the structure and components of the stars. Due to their very small and faint appearance and being at the final stage of star evolution, studying them is often on the fringes of telescopic capabilities.
