Baylor track and field followed up its successful Big 12 indoor championships with another strong showing at the NCAA Indoor Championships Fayetteville, Ark., last week, bringing home an individual national champion and a record-breaking finish from the women’s team.

“I always read Psalms 18 before I go out and race,” junior cross country runner Rachel Johnson said. “It talks about God giving us strength. It’s a really good thing to read, I think, just to get focused and just see that I should be running for God and not myself.”
Call it superstition, luck or simply faith, Johnson’s ritual of preparing for a meet has worked.
Baylor track and field has one more meet in preparation for the Big 12 Championship, and before team members make their mark on the Big 12, they reflected on the season as a whole.
The women led the day for Baylor track and field, bringing home eight of the 10 wins for the Bears at the Michael Johnson Dr Pepper Classic on Saturday in Waco.
Once again, Baylor’s track and field athletes proved they can hold their own on a national stage.
The rainy conditions the No. 16 Lady Bears and No. 28 Bears’ track team endured during practice on Wednesday are a far cry from the conditions they will be competing in this weekend.
Last weekend, Baylor track headed to College Station in hopes of continuing Baylor’s athletic success.
Women’s cross country competed against a tough field that featured eight regionally ranked teams and finished sixth overall on Friday in Toledo, Ohio, at the Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster.
Baylor fans have plenty to follow this weekend as several teams are in action: men’s tennis will be home Friday, Saturday and Sunday for their season opener in the HEB Invitational, women’s cross country competes Friday at the Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster meet in Toledo, Ohio, and on Sunday and Monday, women’s golf will be at the Dick Maguire Invitational tournament in Albuquerque, N.M.
