Following an electrical transformer failure and a building-wide power outage, all classes in Morrison Hall have been relocated for the foreseeable future, according to a Baylor News Flash email.

Waking up to Canvas being down was a pleasant or unwelcome surprise that many students and faculty at Baylor encountered on Oct. 20. The Amazon Web Services outage disrupted students’ and faculty members’ day-to-day lives, revealing just how reliant the university is on web services such as Canvas.
According to a Baylor News Flash email sent to students, affected buildings included the Armstrong Browning Library, Bobo Spiritual Life Center, Carroll Library, McMullen-Connally Faculty Center and Tidwell Bible Building. All affected buildings were diverted to auxiliary power.
Every spring semester, Baylor mulches and fertilizes parts of campus that didn’t survive the winter months. On April 15, 2021, student government presented a bill — initially totaling around $9,000 — that would fund the planting of nine trees around campus.
Wednesday was an eventful day for the electrical systems on campus, with fire alarms sounding, power shutting down, steam pipes leaking, an electric motor and belt overheating, fans expelling carbon monoxide indoors and a squirrel gnawing through the wires of a transformer.
