Baylor’s status as the largest Baptist university in the world raises the stakes for local Baptist ministers. Crafting weekly 30- to 40-minute sermons on ancient texts is already difficult, but doing so for an audience of biblical scholars and Koine Greek instructors is even more demanding.

Now that the sun has set on the 2022-2023 academic year, The Baylor Lariat has compiled all the most important Baylor-focused news since August. In chronological order, here they are.
At last Thursday’s Student Senate meeting, the Senate voted to recommend renovating five university dorms – Collins, Penland, North Russell, South Russell and Martin. While the plans aren’t final, they will likely call for adding additional student lounge and study spaces, improving bathrooms, replacing floors and ceilings and improving the technological capacities of the residence halls. The plan would be implemented over the next 15 to 20 years.
A Baylor administrator announced plans are in the works to refurbish five of the university’s residence halls over a 15- to 20-year period at Thursday’s Student Senate meeting.
Unexpectedly during conversations, rumors surface. Whispers of a secret series of underground tunnels that connect every building on campus penetrate the air. Some people insist they exist, while others place the tunnels in the same category as Santa Claus.
One of the ways Baylor meets the spiritual needs of students is by assigning chaplains, who are also George W. Truett Seminary students, to each residence hall.
While safety may be a concern for students on campus late at night, Campus Living & Learning provides a free shuttle service from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for all on-campus residents. The shuttle is a golf cart driven by one of six safety and security education officers.
The residence halls are competing in an energy conservation tournament that began on March 21 and ends May 1.
