This morning, more than 300 high school choir students will arrive at Baylor without any music. By 5 p.m. they will perform together for the first time, singing pieces they have been taught in one day.

This combination of intensity, teamwork and talent is the core of the 10th annual Women’s Choir Festival.

The men of Zeta Zigga Zamma have finally gotten their act together and will put on Zing, their own version of Sing, at 7 p.m. March 6 at the Jubilee Theater.

Spin Connection, a music and vinyl store, is just getting started selling music and has future plans already in the works. The store opened in December and is located at 3703 Franklin Ave.

What happened to music? Will the music of our generation have any lasting power?

Iconic bands of the past still blast through stadium speakers at events and legendary music from decades ago still fills the atmosphere at restaurants and shopping malls.

Just as the pattern of tides swell and retreat in the ocean, so does the rhythm and course in the life of a rock band. For countless bands, change is the upset that ruins the integrity of its sound and core. Not so for Switchfoot.

For the 67th year, kids from the greater Waco area will file into Waco Hall to experience a concert of classical music performed by the Baylor Symphony Orchestra.

David Bolin is a Baylor alumnus and electronic design editor for Celebrating Grace Inc. Waco graduate student Priscilla Powell is currently going for her master’s in biology. Niceville, Fla., sophomore Stephen Farrell is studying trombone performance.

Shawn McDonald is back on the Christian music radar with his new album “Closer.” The album releases March 11 on EMI’s Sparrow Records. Though the songs are very personal for McDonald (he wrote or contributed to all of them), he shares songwriting credits with other award-winning writers such as Brandon Heath, Joy Williams, Ben Glover and Josh Garrels.
