Browsing: Moody Libraries

As students prepare for finals week, many trek the familiar trail to Moody Memorial Library or the SUB. However, the crowding has significantly intensified this year — not just because of exams, but because of the construction in Moody’s garden level. The construction has temporarily closed much of Moody’s bottom floor, leaving only the atrium spaces, outdoor tables and the Makerspace open.

There is ongoing debate about the constitutionality of banning books from local libraries or institutions. While some argue that book banning infringes on freedom of speech, others hold that certain content should be limited to certain contexts.

Despite the copious number of students at the library, very few actually read the thousands of books in Baylor’s collection. Why? It could be because students have so much required reading material that they reserve little time to read for fun. However, the selection of books offered at campus libraries could be another explanation for the lack of readers on campus.

University Libraries will host the Educational Technology Showcase from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Moody Library. The showcase will highlight creative uses of information and communication technologies in the classroom at Baylor and beyond.
