Prior to going on the retreat, I was nervous. As a junior, I was afraid I would be the only upperclassman on a retreat typically dominated by freshmen. But throughout the weekend, I encountered students of all classes. I was also unsure about what would happen on the retreat, but even in the short three days that I was there, I felt my faith deepen.

In the past, pre-health honor society Alpha Epsilon Delta has done a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, however, this year they are headed to South Africa instead. AED is an organization that strives to cultivate the students’ hearts for service, give them experience in the medical world and grow closer together as a group. This year AED is able to partner with the Medical Service Organization (MSO) for their trip.
“For me, it was life-changing,” Baylor basketball head coach Scott Drew said. “The more you’re in line with [Christ], the more He can bless you.”
Connecting with other human beings is what Hebert said she loves most about serving in another country, which can have a lasting impact on students.
Students who are signed up for Baylor Missions’ spring break trips will be opting out of a beach vacation this year, traveling instead to the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Amsterdam, Madrid and Japan.
For many students, spring break is a nine-day break from the chaos of midterms and a chance to let off some steam after those long All-University Sing rehearsals have finally ended.
