“The community is just so tight, they have what they call the familia mindset,” she said. “Everyone is just very close knit. They have so many socials and they have so many events that just bring the whole community together.”

Kappa Delta Chi, a Latina-based sorority at Baylor, sold aguas frescas at the ​​Bill Daniel Student Center to celebrate the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 15. The event was the first of weekly fundraisers that the sorority will hold over the next month.

On Tuesday Kappa Delta Chi — a Baylor sorority that represents the Latina community — had a carnation flower sale to celebrate Valentine’s Day and raise money to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the Baylor chapter’s philanthropy.
