“Each one of you is a very unique individual, so you have to showcase that, whether it’s in an interview or a personal website or your social media,” Clark said. “I think ultimately, that can be the difference between you getting a job or an internship and you being passed up.”
The Baylor Career Center hosted over 115 employers for Career Day Tuesday in the Mark and Paula Hurd Welcome Center. The Lariat spoke to two of these companies to get their advice for students looking to give themselves the best shot at a selective job or internship.
With the difficulties of trying to find internships and enter the workforce, Joe Kickasola, film and digital media department professor and director of the Baylor in New York program, wanted to give students a once-in-a-lifetime chance to kickstart their careers.
When college students consider whether to accept an internship with a company, typically they look at numerous factors: is the company reputable, is it in a nice area, is it in their field of study and is it a paid or unpaid internship.
In the future, college students need to take a closer look at whether or not an internship is paid.
