From Magnolia to murals, the city of Waco has recently seen a revolution of art and creativity spring from its streets. Local artists and songwriters Holly Tucker and Jennifer Pisarcik are two glowing examples of the talent that lies within the city.

The animals at Cameron Park Zoo weren’t the only ones going wild on Saturday. Continuing its yearlong celebration of “20 Wild Years,” the zoo hosted NBC’s “The Voice” top six contender and Baylor student Holly Tucker in concert at its Brazos River Country attraction.
Though this event was not the only celebration the zoo is having this year, the concert was the first they have ever hosted in hopes to do more in the future.

Lorena sophomore Holly Tucker blew away the judges in the battle rounds of NBC’s “The Voice” Monday, beating teammate and roommate Michelle Raitzin for a spot in the next stage of the competition, the knockout performances.
The battle rounds are the second stage of the competition for “The Voice,” following the blind auditions. If Tucker advances past the knockout rounds, she will compete in the final live performances.
Baylor has another claim to fame after Monday night’s blind audition episode of “The Voice.”
Lorena sophomore Holly Tucker has come a long way from performing at such venues as the local farmer’s market to wowing the thousands that tuned in to watch NBC’s “The Voice” with her performance. Tucker is currently in Los Angeles, Calif., preparing for the next stage of the competition.
Four down, one to go. So far, four of the artists signed to Uproar Records have finished recording with the duo of Paul Whitney and Colin Laflin, who jointly own Transient Workshop in Austin.
Baylor will host Waco’s 2012 Muscular Dystrophy Association Muscle Walk at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Baylor Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility, part of the Dorothy Highers Athletic Complex on University Parks Dr.

Holly Tucker said it was fate when an Uproar Records bookmark on her desk was the first item to catch her eye in her North Russell dorm on move-in day. As the freshman held the thin slice of paper in her hands, marked with the date for auditions, she began to envision a year of performances, recording sessions, songwriting and doing what she is most passionate about: singing.
Freshman year is often called the year of firsts. First welcome week, first day of college. First time to live in a dorm room, first $500+ textbook purchase. First Baylor “sic ‘em” at the first Baylor football game, and the first time to do laundry for some.
After an intense audition and selection process, Baylor’s Uproar Records label has signed five artists for the upcoming year. The artists will all have the opportunity to have their music recorded professionally through Uproar Records.
