If you pay attention to the news, you probably hear about social injustices around the world. These injustices range from issues of race to religion to gender. Something you might not hear is how to actually solve or combat these social injustices.

In many respects, the events unfolding in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson have been a flashpoint for many buried social issues.

The 18-year-old fatally shot by a suburban St. Louis police officer didn’t face any juvenile charges at the time of his death and never was charged with a serious felony such as murder, robbery or burglary, a juvenile court system lawyer said Wednesday.

The streets of Ferguson were peaceful for another night, as protests and tensions subsided in the St. Louis suburb where unrest erupted after a white police officer fatally shot an unarmed black 18-year-old.

The mourners filled an enormous church to remember Michael Brown — recalling him as a “gentle giant,” aspiring rapper and recent high school graduate on his way to a technical college.
