Lyon is a Baylor alumnus and has been part of the faculty at Baylor since 1975, starting out as a professor of sociology up until 1998 when he became dean of the Graduate School and has been in that position since. When he retires at the end of this academic year, he will have completed 50 years at Baylor. During his tenure as dean, he has witnessed the transformation and contributed to the growth of the graduate school.

“I firmly believe what’s so special about a Baylor education is the way that we can walk into the faith component and talk about things in an open fashion that you really can’t talk about the same way at publicly supported institutions. That’s distinctive of Baylor,” Mortenson said.
Dr. Shelley Conroy, dean of the Louise Herrington School of Nursing, has begun a three year term on the Board of Trustees of the Baylor University Medical Center. She was appointed to the position on Jan. 15.
