After allowing 17 points and 151 total yards in the first quarter, the Bears (1-1) held the Utes (2-0) without another offensive touchdown and just 141 total yards for the rest of the game. The Bears will be without redshirt junior quarterback Blake Shapen for two to three weeks with an MCL injury, while Utah is monitoring star senior quarterback Cam Rising’s status.
It became clear early in the game that the offensive line was hurting Baylor’s chance at success. The first quarter saw four false start penalties from the group, and it added two more later in the game.
