Whenever the topic of photorealism is brought up in video games, it is usually associated with progress and a positive for a game, but in reality, it’s extremely detrimental to the medium.

With all the controversy surrounding BioWare’s sci-fi role-playing game “Mass Effect 3,” I think it’s a good idea to reflect on where this series started out. Back in late 2007, before anybody was complaining about day one downloadable content or the “shallow” ending of “Mass Effect 3,” BioWare created a revolutionary game called “Mass Effect.”
Students walking into the Baylor Sciences Building earlier this week were greeted by two flat screen Sony televisions complete with first-person shooter “Call of Duty: Black Ops.”
It’s time to storm the battlefield, at least a virtual one. If the world were in a full-scale conflict this game depicts what that environment would look like.
