“The real beauty of anthropology is an understanding of cultural diversity across time and space,” Hoggarth said. “One of the things I love about being an archaeologist is the ability to write history for those who didn’t write down all the aspects of the past.”

Students are invited to taste goat meat, throw spears and make stone tools at the anthropology department’s annual goat roast on Friday.

Assistant professor of anthropology candidate Carla Pezzia’s lecture, “Faces We See, Hearts We Do Not Know: Intersubjectivity, Mental Health, and Environment amongst the Kaqchikel Maya,” combines public health and anthropological approaches to analyze indigenous populations.
