Frisco junior Abhi Rajkumar, a University Scholar majoring in a pre-med track with a focus on human biology research, was awarded the Hilde Spielvogel Award at the Human Biology Association Conference. The annual award is given to one undergraduate researcher based on the quality of research, analysis and presentation, as evaluated by the association’s publications committee.

“The real beauty of anthropology is an understanding of cultural diversity across time and space,” Hoggarth said. “One of the things I love about being an archaeologist is the ability to write history for those who didn’t write down all the aspects of the past.”

Students can come see anthropology meet health sciences this afternoon.

Assistant professor of anthropology candidate Carla Pezzia’s lecture, “Faces We See, Hearts We Do Not Know: Intersubjectivity, Mental Health, and Environment amongst the Kaqchikel Maya,” combines public health and anthropological approaches to analyze indigenous populations.
