No. 24 Baylor women’s basketball pulled put a nail-biting 66-65 win against No. 22 West Virginia on Saturday afternoon in the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, W.Va.
No. 24 Baylor’s women’s basketball secured its second win in a row by a score of 69-61 over Kansas on Wednesday night at the Foster Pavilion.
Brittney Griner became the seventh former Baylor women’s basketball player to have her jersey retired, as her No. 42 jersey was lifted to the rafters on Sunday.
Equestrian
Baylor equestrian’s chance at its second national championship were nixed Saturday after the three-seed South Carolina Gamecocks thwarted Baylor 10-6 in semifinals of the NCEA national championship at the Extraco Events Center in Waco.
Two-seed Baylor faces 10-seed Oklahoma State after the Cowgirls defeated the seven-seed TCU Horned Frogs 13-3 in the NCEA national championship on Thursday at the Extraco Events Center in Waco. The Bears are searching for their second national championship in program history.
For the majority of the 2014-15 season, Baylor equestrian held the No. 1 national ranking, but pressure eventually wore down the Bears, causing them to fall into a multiple-meet losing streak.
Tennis
The Bears have a veteran leader in fifth-year senior Paula Barañano, who has “seen the good, bad and ugly” according to head coach Joey Scrivano.
After an extended home stand, No. 10 Baylor men’s tennis traveled to Columbus, Ohio, to face No. 1 Ohio State University Tuesday evening. For the third time in the teams’ last four matches, the Bears fell to a top-4 team, this time by a score of 4-0 in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
