In the aftermath of national attention over Baylor hosting Turning Point USA on campus, statements made at the closed event have ignited controversy amongst students and faculty.
With nearly 120 years of combined experience in Penland Dining Hall, Elaine Battle, Linda Benson and Donna Majors have served thousands — maybe even millions — of meals to the Baylor community. But the three are known for far more than flipping omelets or making pizzas. Their careers are marked by countless relationships and acts of service that go beyond the women’s job descriptions.
Laura McNutt, assistant director of advising in Baylor’s College of Arts and Sciences, died April 17 at her home in Waco after a three-year battle with colon cancer. She was 38.
The legacy of the blue-and-white building on 25th Street, the authentic Honduran restaurant Antojitos Centroamericanos, continues, now reopened as Rosita’s. The restaurant is renamed in honor of the late owner, Rosa Rodriguez, and her impact on her family and community.

In addition to a rise in tourism, funds like the Cen-Tex Minority Business Equity Fund allow for the growth of minority businesses in Waco. The fund benefits minority business owners and allows them to gain access to capital that kickstarts their businesses.
The Flutie Foundation, along with Pi Kappa Phi, hosted a 5K on campus in support of individuals with autism. The 5K served as a charity fundraiser for Pi Kappa Phi’s philanthropy and included a diverse population of participants.

“The construction project included reconstruction of everything in the right-of-way on Elm Avenue from MLK Boulevard to Spring Street,” a City of Waco statement reads. “Improvements included sidewalk, streetscape, drainage, waterline, and accessibility updates. New pedestrian lighting as well as landscaping were also added.”
Covid-19
“Since July 1st, Baylor’s campus has had nine positives out of 48 tests,” Stern said. “And in the last month alone, we have had seven positives out of 29 tests, which is almost a 25% positivity rate.”
