Once news headlines began appearing about Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and how his wife were removed from Venezuela, most people scratched their heads in confusion, wondering where the news came from and why it happened.
As students return to Baylor’s campus for the spring semester, the university’s calendar is packed with an array of events that bring the campus together. Whether you’re into student-led performances, big-name shows or cultural moments, here’s a semester’s worth of events to mark on your calendar.
While professors Sam Henderson and Maverick Moore have worked extensively in the short film space — while also co-teaching a class on it in the film department — the most recent project for the duo, a short film titled “Ado”, has made the shortlist for Best Live Action Short Film at the Oscars.

Those driving down Bosque Boulevard might notice a large sign at the intersection of 25th Street that reads “Waco Baha’i Center” standing over what was, years ago, a pharmacy. Baha’is have been a part of Waco for more than 50 years, and to this day, people of the Baha’i faith are still active in the Waco community.
Rhonda Milem didn’t know that families who don’t have a place to live sometimes stay in the Sandman Motel on Franklin Avenue until she took a job at the Dollar General just down the street.
“I see a lot of kids come here after school,” she said.
Children and their families, living in the area, frequent the store where Milem works.
Midway Independent School District is changing the way its students learn by issuing an Apple iPad to each child in kindergarten through 12th grade. The introduction of these devices into students’ hands is a point of contention for some people, and the district is attempting to address the issues.
Covid-19
“Since July 1st, Baylor’s campus has had nine positives out of 48 tests,” Stern said. “And in the last month alone, we have had seven positives out of 29 tests, which is almost a 25% positivity rate.”

Trump encouraged voter turnout and touts policy victories, saying, “Pretend I’m on the ballot.” He also announced that if Republicans win the House and Senate, every adult U.S. citizen would receive a $5,000 dividend.
