Hong Kong’s leader refused demands by pro-democracy protesters to resign Thursday and instead offered talks to defuse the massive demonstrations that have grown into the biggest challenge to Beijing’s authority since 1997.

Waco police confiscated two pounds of methamphetamine Wednesday and arrested one man during the execution of a search warrant two miles south of campus, said Sgt. Patrick Swanton, public information officer for the Waco Police Department.

Texas voters turned out in historic numbers Tuesday, delivering victories for State Rep. James Talarico and forcing a runoff between Attorney General Ken Paxton and incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s U.S. Senate contest that claimed national attention. The total early-voting turnout of more than 2.5 million marks the highest ever for a midterm primary election. The results also kicked off the 2026 midterm cycle.
