Young understands that it can be challenging for students unfamiliar with Bosley’s classification as a service dog to know how to act. However, Young encourages questions and is happy to share about her condition and Bosley’s role.
“[Baylor University Counseling Center’s] mission is to foster wholeness for every student through caring relationships, cultural humility and integrated mental health services,” Annie Mathew, the director of the counseling center, said.
The theme of the recent Sundown Sessions event on Sept. 7 was “Lego Crazy,” which included free lego stets for the first 50 attendees, as well as karaoke and board games. As opposed to the 40-80 attendees usually present at these sessions, “Lego Crazy” tallied 120 Baylor students.
“Students may feel like I have to do it on my own, I need to solve it by myself, instead of asking for help,” Wainscott said. “Sometimes professors may not realize that you are shy to ask for help, and my advice for new students is that give yourself patience because it will take a little of time to get you done everything.”
