Last Saturday, Baylor’s acrobatics and tumbling team captivated a record-breaking crowd of 1,453 at the Ferrell Center. From the players to the coaches, there was a feeling of shock that Baylor’s A&T squad managed to draw a crowd of such a great size. There was an evident sense of extra spunk in the players’ performances and the fans cheered like it was a championship meet for Baylor.

When head coach Joey Scrivano walks to his office in the morning, he passes a reminder of the success he and his women’s tennis teams have accomplished since he was hired as Baylor’s head coach in 2003. It’s not all about the hardware for Scrivano, though. It’s the process and culture that make the difference for the program.

The No. 3 Lady Bears stayed perfect in the Big 12 after they eked out a 70-68 victory against the Texas Longhorns on Sunday in Austin. Baylor (22-1, 11-0) is well atop the Big 12 with a two-game lead over the second-place Oklahoma Sooners.

The No. 6 Baylor women’s tennis team has gotten off to a hot start in the 2015 dual-match season, and the Lady Bears exhibited their current state of dominance with four-straight shutouts on Friday and Sunday to continue their unbeaten season at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.

The stakes keep stacking higher for the No. 3 Lady Bears. Baylor set itself apart from this season’s Big 12 Conference women’s basketball teams over the weekend. The Lady Bears are the only undefeated team remaining in the Big 12 after reaching a 9-0 league record with a 66-58 win over Kansas on Sunday at the Ferrell Center.

Last week, the NFL issued a one-year ban to Cleveland Browns receiver and ex-Baylor Bear Josh Gordon failing a team drug test, testing positive for alcohol. It is not the first time Gordon has been part of a drug violation. It has been something he has fought for all of his life, even before his professional career.
