The message of committee scoring was heard loud and clear by No. 10 Baylor on its way to a 5-0 win over Northwestern State on Sunday. Baylor was aggressive outshooting Northwestern State 34 to five.

The underclassmen are productive once again as freshman midfielder Ashley York set up sophomore forward Bri Campos for her second goal of the season with a cross from the left side of the box.

No. 10 Baylor didn’t miss a beat despite losing some of its best goal scorers from the previous year. Five different players scored on 19 shots as Baylor routed UTSA 5-0 on Friday.

“I think last year we had a lot of really good single goal scorers,” senior forward Vic Hoffman said. “The whole team contributed as a whole, it’s not just one player that’s doing all the work. It’s all of us: forward, midfield and defense to get it in and whoever steps up in that moment, in that game is going to get the goal.”

After a weekend of competitive and mentally taxing tryouts in Portland, Ore., senior soccer player Carlie Davis was relieved to finally be landing in Dallas on the way back to her home at Baylor University.

As the plane taxied, Davis noticed a missed call from an unknown number on her phone and held the phone to her ear as the voicemail played.

The Baylor women’s soccer team saw its best season last fall with an overall record of 19-1-5 and made the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen game against the University of North Carolina.

Soccer can be relentless sometimes. A team can outplay its opponent all game, but one goal can change things dramatically. Such is the way it went for the No. 11 Baylor women’s soccer team against the No.13 University of North Carolina on Nov. 18 in the Sweet Sixteen.

The Baylor volleyball team’s season is officially over after a regular season in which the Bears earned 20 wins and just 12 losses.

This season is just the sixth time in program history that the Bears reached the 20-win mark.

It is the second time that the team has won at least 20 matches under head coach Jim Barnes.

The No. 11 Baylor soccer team advanced to the Sweet Sixteen with a 2-1 overtime victory over the No. 14 Georgetown Hoyas. Senior forward Dana Larsen notched the overtime golden goal to give Baylor the win. The Bears will now take on the winner of North Carolina and Illinois at 1 p.m. Sunday. If the No. 2 seed North Carolina was to win, then the Tar Heels would have home field advantage against Baylor.

After defeating Arizona State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the No. 3 seed Baylor women’s soccer team will take on the Georgetown Hoyas at 3 p.m. today at Fetzer Field at the University of North Carolina, the host school for the region.

Baylor is currently ranked No. 11 in the country, just three spots ahead of the 14th-ranked Hoyas. Georgetown earned a spot in this game by defeating Virginia Tech 3-2 in overtime.

When TCU and Baylor last squared off in volleyball, it took a grueling five sets to narrowly decide a Baylor victory. This time in Fort Worth for the rematch between the two schools, Baylor decisively took care of business to earn a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-20, 25-21). The win gave the Bears back-to-back road sweeps after they defeated West Virginia in straight sets last Saturday.

Last year, the Baylor women’s soccer team ended its season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at the hands of North Carolina 5-0. This year, the 11th ranked Bears have advanced to the second round after beating Arizona State 3-1 on Friday.

After a long regular season and a win in the Big 12 Tournament, the No. 11 Baylor women’s soccer team has advanced to the NCAA tournament.

The Bears are a No. 3 seed in the big dance and will travel to Arizona State to take on the Sun Devils today at 8 p.m.

The Baylor volleyball team fell to the Oklahoma Sooners 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 23-25, 23-25) Wednesday night. Baylor had four players with double-digit kills in redshirt junior outside hitter Zoe Adom, freshman outside hitter Thea Munch-Soegaard, sophomore middle hitter Adri Nora and senior right side hitter Alyssa Dibbern.

As of today, it has been 72 days since the No. 14 Baylor women’s soccer team has lost a game. The most recent victory was the 4-1 win over the TCU Horned Frogs in which they clenched the Big 12 Championship.

Baylor volleyball defeated No. 20 Kansas 3-1 (25-10, 27-25, 24-26, 25-23) on Saturday. The Bears started the match with immense intensity and jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Baylor never looked back and won the first set 25-10.

Baylor won its first Big 12 Conference Soccer Championship in a 4-1 victory over TCU on Sunday.

The second-seeded Bears (17-1-4) have earned the Big 12’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 14 Baylor women’s soccer team advanced to the second round of the Big 12 tournament with a 3-0 win over the Oklahoma State Cowgirls Wednesday night. The Bears will next take on Texas Tech on Saturday in San Antonio. All four Texas teams, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas and TCU, advanced to the second round.

The Baylor volleyball team is 16-9 with a 3-7 Big 12 Conference record. With six conference games remaining, the Bears are looking to play their best volleyball down the stretch in the second half of the season. Every game is crucial at this juncture in the season. With the first half of Big 12 play behind them, the Bears believe they are poised to make a positive run.

“I feel like since the first half is over, we’ve hopefully learned all of our lessons from the first half,” senior right side hitter Alyssa Dibbern said. “We can use those lessons to show teams that we are a second-half team and they didn’t know what they were getting into the first time they played us.”

The Big 12 tournament has not treated the Baylor women’s soccer team well in the recent past. Last year, the team lost to a Missouri team in penalty kicks that it had beaten 3-0 earlier in the season. But this is a new year, and the No. 14 Bears will look to reach further and win the Big 12 tournament in San Antonio.

The No. 15 Baylor women’s soccer team won their final regular season game over TCU by a score of 2-0. The team finished their season 14-1-4 overall and 5-0-3 in conference play.

With just one regular season game remaining, the No. 15 Baylor women’s soccer team is ready for a postseason run.
The team will likely be seated No. 2 in the Big 12 tournament, but standing in its way is the TCU Horned Frogs.

The Horned Frogs are 6-8-3 on the year and just 1-4-2 in conference play, but a lot is riding on this game.

The No. 8 Texas Longhorns outlasted the Baylor Bears in Austin 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-9, 25-22). For the first time since 2006, the Baylor volleyball team won a set in Austin against the Texas Longhorns Tuesday evening.

After playing close in a competitive first set loss, the Bears found their stride against Texas and played a brilliant second set to top Texas 25-20.

The No. 20 Baylor women’s soccer team certainly found a flair for the dramatic over the weekend after two nail-biting victories over conference foes Texas and Iowa State.

Friday’s victory over the Texas Longhorns came in double overtime, but not after some late-game drama. Senior forward Dana Larsen scored what appeared to be a game-winning goal in the 80th minute of the game.

Larsen fired a shot from about 30 yards away. The ball landed in front of Longhorn freshman goalkeeper Abby Smith. It appeared as though Smith would make a routine save, but the ball took an odd bounce and went over Smith’s head and into the goal.

The Baylor Bears volleyball team defeated TCU in an epic, hard-fought match that lasted all five sets. The Bears won 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18, 15-13 to earn their second Big 12 conference victory.

“We just did not have our ‘A’ game tonight,” head coach Jim Barnes said. “We were really struggling in every facet of the game but we were fighting through it is what I liked. We were fighting and our defense and our blocking picked up just in time to turn the match around. Especially the blocking. I thought [Adri] Nora did a great job hustling and getting blocks. We made enough digs there at the end to get the win.”

The No. 20 Baylor women’s soccer team will take on I-35 rival the University of Texas Longhorns at 7 p.m. Friday at home. The Bears are 11-1-4 on the season with a 2-0-3 conference record, but will look for their first home conference win since September 28.

The No. 20 Baylor women’s soccer team had a tough road test this past weekend, taking on the No. 25 West Virginia Mountaineers on Friday night and Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon.

Road victories are hard to come by in Big 12 play, but the Bears did come away with two draws.

The Bears are now 11-1-4 on the season, and 2-0-3 in Big 12 play.

The Baylor volleyball team earned its first Big 12 Conference win on Wednesday night against Texas Tech. After facing four consecutive ranked opponents and starting the season 0-4 in conference, the Bears showed resiliency and earned a victory against Texas Tech at the Ferrell Center.

The No. 20 Baylor women’s soccer team will travel the country roads to Morgantown, W.V. to take on the No. 25 West Virginia Mountaineers.

The Mountaineers are 9-3-3 on the season and 5-0 in Big 12 play. They have not lost a game since Aug 31, but the Bears’ unbeaten streak stretches back to Aug. 26.

There are no easy games in conference play.

The No. 25 women’s soccer team has played three conference games so far, and all of them have come down to the wire.

The most recent game was a 3-2 win over Texas Tech to move the team to 11-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.

The Baylor Bears moved to 10-1-2 on Friday night with a 1-0 victory over conference foe Kansas. Baylor is now 1-0-1 in conference play. Senior midfielder Lisa Sliwinski had the only goal of the game.

The Baylor women’s soccer team will take on Kansas at 7 p.m. Friday in Waco.

The Jayhawks, like the Bears, recently dropped out of the top 25 on NCAA.com, so the competition should be stiff.

The Jayhawks are a very possession-oriented team.
