It’s the home stretch for the Baylor volleyball team. The Bears (14-15, 4-10 Big 12) are fighting for the chance to compete in the NCAA tournament, and they only have two more regular season games to complete conference play.

Baylor volleyball couldn’t close out its Big 12 contest against No. 23 Kansas State Saturday night and dropped three straight sets to lose the match 3-2 at the Ferrell Center.

Baylor volleyball plays its second of four straight home matches today, and will need to have a strong showing in its remaining five games for a NCAA tournament berth. The Bears (13-13, 3-8 Big 12) have not been selected for the tournament since 2011.

Shootout heartbreak marked the end of No. 7-seeded Baylor soccer’s season at the Big 12 Conference Championship Tournament against the No. 6-seeded University of Oklahoma on Friday in Kansas City, Kan. The Bears were ousted by a recurring theme this season – stout defense and an ineffective offense.

Baylor volleyball dropped its second consecutive Big 12 loss with a 3-0 decision to No. 25 Oklahoma Saturday night at the Ferrell Center.

Baylor soccer is just two wins away from a Big 12 Tournament Championship after a stunning 1-0 upset over No. 2 Oklahoma State on Wednesday. Three of the four Big 12 Tournament matches on Wednesday saw the lower-seeded team win. The only higher-seeded team to make it out of the first round was No. 1 West Virginia with a 2-1 win over TCU.

Not much was expected of No. 7 Baylor soccer at the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, Kan. this week, but the Bears did the unexpected. Baylor beat Oklahoma State, the top-seeded team in their bracket, 1-0 Wednesday night.

It’s been a season of ups and downs for Baylor soccer. The Bears were tested by strong opponents and produced some impressive victories, but struggled with being consistent in Big 12 play. The Bears’ regular season of mixed results ends at 7 p.m. tonight in Morgantown, W.Va. against the conference-leading West Virginia.

It looked like a critical stretch of matches for Baylor soccer last weekend, and the Bears came out of empty-handed. The Bears lost to the two teams (Texas Tech and Texas) neck-and-neck with them in the conference standings. They fell 1-0 in Lubbock to the Red Raiders, and dropped 2-1 to the Longhorns in the 2014 season home finale.

After salvaging a win in Norman, Okla., on Sunday, it became clear that the Bears are not going down without a fight. With only three conference games remaining in the season, Baylor soccer plays in two pivotal Big 12 matches this weekend.
