The Big 12 is on the national television stage once again as No. 22 Baylor battles No. 5 Oklahoma at 7 p.m. on ABC in Waco. Other things at stake for conference teams include bowl eligibility and national title game aspirations.

If the rivalry wasn’t heated enough, throw in the conference realignment fiasco that took place in September. Kyle field threatens a hostile environment for Baylor, but the Bears are ready for the Aggies.

TCU accepted an invitation to join the Big 12 on Monday night, seizing an opportunity to be a part of a conference with natural geographic rivals despite the league’s recent instability.

TCU has accepted the Big 12 Conference’s invitation to become the 10th member of the conference. The announcement came at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the school’s campus in Fort Worth.

Leaders of the Big 12 Conference cleared the way Thursday to add TCU, a move that would bring in a rising program and potentially shore up a league that seemed ready to fall apart just a few weeks ago.

It shocked no one that the Sooners broke open the 2011 season with a 47-14 win over Tulsa. Heisman candidate junior quarterback Landry Jones threw for 375 yards and one touchdown. His favorite target, senior wide receiver Ryan Broyles, caught 14 passes for 158 yards and one touchdown.

Statistically, Texas A&M does not possess the Big 12 Conference’s most potent lineup — a look at the Aggies’ production in a three-game series against Texas Tech, however, tells a different story.

The ISU tennis team will have its hands full this weekend against two very talented teams. The Cyclones — 10-10, 1-5 Big 12 — hit the road this Friday and Sunday to play Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, and No. 9 Baylor in Waco, Texas.

Overcoming a Reed Arena crowd and a No. 5/6 Aggie squad may have been the toughest conference challenge for Baylor this season, but the Lady Bears should not expect a much easier foe when they host No. 13 Oklahoma at 7 p.m. today at the Ferrell Center.
