A search dog helps in the effort to find victims of the massive slide Monday in Oso, Wash. At least 14 people were killed in the 1-square-mile slide that hit in a rural area about 55 miles northeast of Seattle on Saturday. Several people also were critically injured, and homes were destroyed.

Wimberley sophomore Ryan Barroso, Lake Jackson junior Indy Henderson and McKinney senior Carlos Silva bike hard for Pi Kappa Phi. The fraternity began their four-day philanthropy event for special needs yesterday on Fountain Mall called War of the Roses. The event consists of a “battle of the sororities” where money is donated into buckets for each sorority. The winner of the event receives a trophy and money towards their philanthropy. Last years winners were Delta Delta Delta in first, Alpha Delta Pi in second and Zeta Tau Alpha in third.

Lawton, Okla., freshman Cody Zimmerman gets knocked down by Sacramento, Calif., sophomore Michael Daniliuc in a blow-up jousting ring at the Alpha Delta Pi Crush event on Thursday at Edgefield Park. The event included a blow-up slide, cotton candy and other carnival games.
Freshman Brian Hafferkamp focuses as he climbs the rock wall in the Student Life Center. Hafferkamp, along with five other Baylor students, participated in Outdoor Adventure’s Intro to Sports Climbing course. The participants learned how to safely climb in an outdoor environment and help other climbers.
Uzbek dancers in folk costumes perform during the festivities marking the Navruz holiday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Navruz (“New Year”) dates back to ancient Iranian and Central Asian fire-worshippers who celebrated the spring equinox with dances and ritual food.
