On Dec. 4, 1906, the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity — the first Greek-letter organization for African American men — was founded at Cornell University. On Jan. 15, 1908, the first Greek-letter sorority for African American women, Alpha Kappa Alpha, was founded at Howard University. The formation of these organizations came at a time when Black students were fighting for inclusion and representation within higher education. Over 100 years later, these organizations are still thriving at colleges across America, providing a space to celebrate Black culture and serve local communities.

Last year’s flu season was milder than usual thanks to social distancing and mask mandates in place against COVID-19. But this year, many social distancing and mask requirements have been lessened in light of increased COVID-19 vaccinations. Considering that we pay around $60,000 a year to go to Baylor, you would think the Wi-Fi would be a little better. You would think Baylor would at least make sure its students have a stable Wi-Fi connection to get work done, especially considering how prevalent online classes have been for the past year and a half because of COVID-19. Good Wi-Fi is a necessity in college, and Baylor can’t even give that to us.
