By Lilly Price | ReporterIt seems that almost in the same breath, President Trump has claimed his urgency to stop the spread of the coronavirus, all while bemoaning the economic state our country will fall into if we don’t actively look toward reopening commerce. While Trump has asserted that he has total control over when businesses will reopen, he announced last Thursday that part of his administration’s plan is to give that authority on when to reopen the economy back to state governors. This seems to me like one of the greatest oversights to be made during this entire pandemic.…

By Lilly Price | Reporter”Love, Wedding, Repeat” is a new romantic comedy that was released to Netflix on April 10, chronicling the adventures and mishaps of a glamorous wedding. The movie follows the typical Netflix algorithm for casting, which includes a few A list actors and a relatively unknown supporting cast. Because this movie follows multiple people and several different love connections, the casting felt sincere and unrecognizable from other films. Sam Claflin, known for his role in “Catching Fire,” and actress Olivia Munn from “X-Men: Apocalypse,” starred as one of the couples. While their story was sweet, the chemistry…
By Lilly Price | ReporterIn the midst of everything going on in our world, the COVID-19 outbreak, widespread shelter-in-place orders, and a giant disruption of everyday life, it can be easy to forget that later this year we’ll be voting in the 2020 presidential election. While the overwhelming nature of our current lives can make it difficult to look ahead, it’s extremely important to pay attention to this election, as the president chosen will be responsible for the next four years, a time which will likely hold economic struggle for many Americans following the setbacks the virus has presented for…
By Lilly Price | ReporterAt the beginning of the Democratic party’s quest to find a candidate capable of defeating Donald Trump, former Vice President Joe Biden was certainly not a front runner. His campaign has held no significant or newsworthy angle and his performances in the earlier caucuses were weak. To just about everyone in America, Biden’s chances for the Democratic nomination were slim at best, until Super Tuesday, where he won 10 out of the 14 states. Maybe it was the fact that Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders split the progressive vote or that when the other less promising…
By Lilly Price | ReporterThe coronavirus pandemic is an event completely unprecedented for our generation. Almost overnight, it has turned our world upside down. As a journalist, I love the news and learning about what is going on in the world. But for the first time, what is happening on the news is affecting me and so many other college students on a daily basis. These days are filled with so much uncertainty, so much disappointment. As I’ve reflected on what this pandemic and social distancing means for young people — those graduating from high school or college — there…

By Lilly Price | ReporterDemocratic debate season is well underway, a chance for the American people to get acquainted with the Democratic presidential candidates as primary elections are beginning to be held across the country. Or at least, that’s the function debates are supposed to serve. However, as we get closer and closer to selecting a Democratic presidential candidate, the debates get messier and messier. An opportunity for the politicians to share their views on different policies has turned into a mudslinging, chaotic, disorganized show. And nothing made this more clear than the debate in South Carolina on Feb. 25.The…
