Emily Adams, contributor The Baylor Symphony Orchestra is set to perform Johannes Brahms’ “A German Requiem” for the President’s Concert with the Concert and A Cappella Choirs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Jones Concert Hall. The President’s Concert was initiated in 1984 and has since been an annual School of Music tradition. Every spring, it is an opportunity for campus musicians to thank the president for all of his support for the School of Music. Every year, Baylor’s apparel design department puts on an end-of-the-year fashion show to showcase the graduating seniors’ collections that they have been working on all semester. The Baylor Opera Theater and Baylor Jazz Ensemble teamed up for a two-night performance of “The Man of La Mancha” Tuesday and Wednesday at the Waco Hippodrome Theatre. The concert was a stripped-down version of the beloved Broadway musical, which turned the audience’s attention on the performers and the music instead of the set or costumes.The original “The Man of La Mancha” shows Miguel de Cervantes, the author of “Don Quixote,” musically performing his own hero’s exploits in a prison yard. If running the Bearathon, the toughest marathon in Texas, wasn’t challenging enough run, imagine completing those 13.1 miles with a forty-pound pack strapped to your back. Underneath the Bill Daniel Student Center lies the Baylor Gameroom. It has earned the nickname “The Toughest Half in Texas” and attracts thousands of runners, including students, alumni, members from the community as well runners from all over. It’s the Bearathon. Put on every year by the Baylor Student Foundation, Bearathon is a half-marathon and 5k run. “The Bearathon is Student Foundation’s largest event that helps raise scholarships specifically for an endowment fund that we offer for students,” said Taylor Neely, co-chair of campus promotions for Student Foundation. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I remember being so excited by the variety of restaurants on campus when I first explored Baylor my senior year of high school. From Ninfa’s to Chick-fil-A, Chili’s Too to Which Wich, the possibilities for how I was going to blaze through my BearBucks seemed endless. When BearBucks stopped being accepted outside of campus, the number of options reduced significantly and I took to campus to find ways to spend the money I was allotted from my meal plan each semester.
