The Baylor equestrian team rode out on a low note, losing 14-6 to Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.

This meet closed out the regular season for the Bears, ending with a 5-6 record for the season and a 2-3 record in the Big 12. Although the season is over for the Bears, there were still some wins in the meet, with senior hunt seat Rachel Van Allen winning exhibition on the flat with a 91, and also won Most Outstanding Player honors in the meet.

The first two events of the meet were fences and reining, where the Bears trailed 2-3 in fences and 0-5 in reining. After two exhibition rides during fences, senior hunt seats Abigail Jorgensen and Gabby Conte both put points on the board, but Baylor ultimately fell 2-3 in the event.

In reining, the Bears were unable to keep up, but they kept the rides close, two of the losses separated by half a point.

The second half of the meet was slightly more successful for the Bears, with Van Allen’s victory in flats. In horsemanship, three westerns won points for Baylor including junior Abbi Demel, senior Charlotte Green and freshman Elizabeth Forney.

Despite the upturn in the second half, the Bears were unable to beat the Cowgirls, and with that, Baylor ended its regular season. Following this loss, the Bears are looking forward to their postseason tournaments. Baylor will being its postseason ride at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30 in Springtown. The Bears’ opponent has yet to be determined.
