Baylor quarterback Seth Russell announced Monday morning via Instagram that he was cleared by doctors to return to the field.

Russell started last season for Baylor football until suffering a season-ending neck injury against Iowa State on Oct. 24.

“To God be the glory! Prayers have been answered,” Russell said on Instagram. “Thanks to Doctor Emery, Doctor Russell and the entire West Virginia spine center for keeping my dream alive! Had one of my last check ups today and was given the go to getting back on the field and back to work!”

Russell wasn’t Baylor’s only quarterback to suffer an injury last season. Freshman quarterback Jarrett Stidham was banged up against Oklahoma on Nov. 11, and suffered an ankle injury at Oklahoma State on Nov. 21.

Sophomore quarterback Chris Johnson came in at relief and won the game against Oklahoma State.

Johnson eventually suffered an injury as well. Johnson was diagnosed with a concussion against Texas in the regular season finale on Dec. 5, forcing head coach Art Briles to search outside of his quarterback depth chart for a third backup and fourth overall quarterback.

Russell returns to Baylor where all three quarterbacks are expected to recover to full strength ahead of the 2016-17 season.
