Many eyes were on the gridiron for this packed Revivalry week. People have voiced their frustrations about the stagnant offense Saturday night and are restless to get back in the win column. On the bright side, Baylor came out on top over TCU in two of the three matchups. Let’s get into it.
FB’s offense remains silent in loss to underdog TCU
Visions of Baylor’s dominant win over Arizona State flickered throughout the past two weeks leading up to the game against TCU. The Bears had a tougher test in the Horned Frog defense but had a blueprint for success, especially behind 46,634 fans in attendance.
That guide didn’t make it to the field. Junior quarterback DJ Lagway’s 41.5% completion marked the lowest in a game under offensive coordinator Jake Spavital. The offense struggled to move the ball all night, only making it into the red zone once and failing to score a touchdown for the first time this season.
The defense held the Horned Frogs to 17 points, extending its streak to six straight games without allowing 20 or more points. The unit also rendered TCU’s ground game useless as it totaled 33 rushing yards, but it was not enough as the Bears lost 17-6.

VB takes care of business against No. 10 Horned Frogs
Baylor volleyball seemed the least likely of the three teams to beat TCU over the weekend. The Bears were still searching for their first ranked win of the season and found themselves traveling to Fort Worth to face off against the ranked Horned Frogs.
Baylor walked in and took control, sweeping TCU 25-22, 25-22, 27-25 behind stellar performances from sophomore outside hitter Ksenia Rakhmanchik and sophomore setter Isabela Haggard. The Bears are now on a three-match win streak with a trio of sweeps and have not lost a set in two weeks.
No. 13 SOC quiets TCU in front of record crowd
No. 13 Baylor soccer had the privilege of kicking off the weekend with a Friday night match against the Horned Frogs. The blackout-themed match brought 1,509 fans to Betty Lou Mays Field, setting the record for the Bears’ highest-attended match.
Senior midfielder Aryanna Jimison rebounded her own penalty kick in the 25th minute for a tap-in goal. Her score proved to be the difference maker as fifth-year goalkeeper Azul Alvarez shut out TCU to seal the 1-0 victory and move Baylor into second place in the Big 12.

Football’s loss may have left the weekend on a sour note, but it’s time to tackle another week. Keep your head up, even if you see that random lowlight on your Instagram feed that feels like another slap in the face, because it’s another opportunity to bounce back for all of us.
