For foodies on Baylor’s campus, it’s eventual that someone will pop the question, “where is the best burger in Waco?”

With there being about 20 restaurants offering burgers in the Waco area, there are five joints that compete for the title of best burger in town.

    1. Christi’s Hamburgers, Bellmead, TX.

Originally known as Shorty’s, Christi’s hamburgers has been serving the Waco community since 1946.

Christi’s Hamburgers are exactly what you think of when you picture a perfect hamburger: Made from high-quality 100% Angus beef, they offer well-seasoned, thin but juicy patties that are never greasy.

Christi’s is the perfect place to meet with your friends and make new friends in the greater Waco community.

    2. Cupps Hamburgers, Waco, TX.

This fan favorite of the Waco community earned it’s title by offering burgers with crispy edges formed from a blazing hot griddle. Every bite is packed with flavor.

Cupps also serves more than just burgers. They serve breakfast dishes and steak fingers. To this day, they still incorporate the same Texas-grown ingredients that they used when they first opened in 1946.

    3. Health Camp, Waco, TX.

This burger joint is located on the loop, but it is well worth the drive. While the patties are on the greasier side, the flavor shines through. They have a juicy interior and are hard pressed to perfection. Aside from that, they also have a lengthy milkshake menu.

Today, Health Camp serves the Waco community with a diverse menu, and it has become a Waco classic.

    4. Chevron Burgers McGregor, TX.

Located inside of a Chevron near Harris Creek Baptist church, Chevron Burger’s patties are well seasoned, but the patties are a little too thick for a perfect ratio of bun and toppings.

Even through the burgers are on the bigger side, I think that they are underrated due their flavorful seasoning blend. The gooey classic is seared to perfection. Bonus points for a crusty bun, is lightly toasted with butter.

    5. Dubl-R Old Fashioned Hamburgers, Waco, TX.

Dubl-R Burgers has very flavorful, but heavy patties. This smokey burger is tasty while maintaining crispy edges that is the powerhouse of many of their special burgers.

Additionally, their onion rings are the crunchiest I’ve ever tasted, making them a great side to pair with your meal.
