No. 16-ranked Baylor softball went 0-2 against Oklahoma State in a doubleheader Friday evening in Stillwater, Okla.

The two teams decided to play three games in two days due to cold, windy weather, starting with two games on Friday.

The Lady Bears (25-12) lost a shootout to the Cowgirls (31-12) in game one of the series.

Junior starting pitcher Gia Rodoni gave up a two-run homer to the Cowgirls in the bottom of the first inning as Oklahoma State took a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Bears made up ground in the top of the third, with senior center fielder Jessie Scroggins scoring junior left fielder Kyla Walker on an infield grounder to make it a 2-1 game.

In the bottom of the third, the Cowgirls responded with a three-run homer to take a 5-1 lead.

Sophomore right fielder Maddison Kettler notched an RBI walk and Walker picked up an RBI of her own in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 5-3. Scroggins added an RBI double later in the inning and scored on an error as the Lady Bears took a 6-5 lead.

Rodoni surrendered three runs in the bottom of the fourth and was replaced by sophomore pitcher Goose McGlaun with the Cowgirls holding a 8-6 lead.

After the Lady Bears were retired in order in the top of the fifth, the Cowgirls added six runs in the bottom of the inning, going on to win 14-6.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Lady Bears lost a heartbreaker in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Rodoni once again took the mound for Baylor, this time starting off strong with three straight scoreless innings.

In the top of the fourth, the Lady Bears loaded the bases, but failed to bring home any runs with just one out on the board.

After Rodoni pitched another scoreless inning in the fourth, Walker launched an RBI single down the line to bring in Kettler in the top of the fifth and give the Lady Bears a 1-0 lead.

Holding a one run lead into the final inning, Rodoni needed just three outs to seal the game, but an error and an RBI gave the Cowgirls a 2-1 win.

The Lady Bears (25-12, 3-5) look to salvage a game in the series against the Cowgirls at 4 p.m. Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.
