By Christina Soto | Broadcast Managing Editor

Mark Anthony Conditt, the suspect behind the Austin bombings is dead after setting off a bomb and killing himself early this morning, according to the Associated Press.

Above is a map where police have closed off the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Old Settlers Boulevard in Round Rock.

The 24-year-old suspect set off the bomb as police and SWAT were approaching the car he was located in, and an officer was pushed back from the blast and received injuries.

Sections of the I-35 have been shut down in the area around Exit 256 toward Cedar Park.

Police are asking people in the area to stay alert because they do not know where the suspect has been in the last 24 hours.

The Lariat has a reporter at the scene and will be posting updates as we receive them.
