Natural gas leak shuts down Baylor parking garage

By Christina Soto | Broadcast Managing Editor

Construction crews outside of Baylor’s Dutton parking garage were working on installing concrete barriers and accidentally hit a gas pipe around 10 a.m. this morning.

Firefighters, Baylor police and the Atmos Energy arrived at the scene.

Lori Fogleman, Baylor’s Assistant Vice President for Media Communications said those in the Dutton parking garage were evacuated for precautionary measures.

Students and faculty were not allowed to enter the garage until the scene was assessed, but they were allowed to leave the garage.

Atmos was able to cap the line about an hour later and as of noon, all facilities have returned to normal.Â
